Individual Bacon Rolls

Okay, so this next post isn't actually a recipe per se, but a tip that I just can't help but pass on. Being only 2, its not likely that we can make our way through a full package of bacon in one sitting (or even in a week for that matter!). So, roll up your sleeves and roll up your bacon, give it a good freeze and then store it in a freezer bag so that you can use pieces individually. Bon appétit!

  1. Hmm, I do something like this. Actually, I wrap pairs of bacon strips in plastic wrap first and then freeze it in milk bags. Your way is two steps but saves mucking about with plastic wrap. I'll have to give it a try.

  2. Yup, I heard from Jerms that you do your individual breakfasts every day (he seems pretty impressed with this trick). We do the wrapping system at the hospital for OT breakfasts (having patients cook breakfast to see if they are safe on the stove) but I find this roll-up way much, much easier. The hospital actually uses tin foil and I find this awful because you're continually having to peel little bits of tinfoil off your bacon.

I love this trick because I find that I'm much more inclined to use the bacon for pizza toppings, salads, individuals for bacon/egg sandwiches etc. It doesn't take too long to thaw out either. I'd be interested to know which you end up preferring! As an FYI: I cover a small cutting board with tin foil as a surface for freezing the bacon. Comes off nice and easily!
